New Years Eve
Melody , mom, and I went up to see Martha today. She was sitting in a chair. she really slept most of the time and was not interested in interacting with us. She was however determined to pull out her feeding tube and oxygen line. I would be pulling at them too. Martha's care has now been changed over from a cardiologist to a neurologist. The neurologist spend some time with us explaining some of the possible reasons for her condition and he was happy to have Martha"s mom to talk to about her growing up and family history. There really isn't a definitive reason for what happened and really the focus now will be on rehabilitation. After the weekend Martha will be taken to a stroke rehab area. The Neurologist told us that there is still some bleeding and swelling of her brain so some days would be good and some not so good. That now we need to look at how things are progressing over a week rather than from day to day. Thank you for all of the prayers and good thoughts and keep them coming.

ReplyDeleteI just got back from Mom. Having a little lunch and working on my GeoJourney essay. Mom is doing a lot better. They have her up in a recliner now, and free of her restraints so she can move her left hand behind her head. She still wants to pull out all her tubes, but there's a companion there with her all the time to make sure that doesn't happen.
anyone can post a comment. That is the hope to collect up responses here for Martha to be able to look at as she improves.
ReplyDeletegreat news Dave called and said Martha has perked up. She started watching the tv. Wonderful!!!! She is now being moved to the 5th floor. I think 3600. Dave said 5th floor and across the hall.
ReplyDeleteBob Reynolds said: I saw Martha yesterday for a couple of hours. She is stable. The tightness in her right side was a issue the day before but yesterday she was relaxed from the elbow on down to her fingers...which is good. I was also informed that she will be out of ICU within a couple of days and heading down to the rehab unit. It will be a long slow road for her; she will have to relearn to walk, talk and write but she is a fighter.
